Peluva shoes reviews

Peluva shoes

Meet Peluva, the brainchild of Mark Sisson, the genius behind the beloved Primal Kitchen ketchup and mayo brand, and his son, Kyle Sisson. This dynamic duo set out to revolutionize minimalist footwear, breaking the stereotype of "nerdy" toe shoes. Their vision was simple yet groundbreaking: create shoes that not only deliver a barefoot-like experience but also exude style and unparalleled comfort.

My journey with Peluva began thanks to a captivating Instagram ad. Intrigued by the design, I took the plunge and invested in my first pair – the Strand, Peluva's take on traditional lightweight trainers. The experience was so delightful that I soon found myself reaching for a second pair, this time for my workouts.

But the Peluva love didn't stop there. I expanded my collection to include the Miami, a sporty and comfortable loafer, and the Napa, a full-grain leather sneaker, both of which quickly became staples in my wardrobe.

In this Peluva review, I'll take you through the following:

1. The Impact of Conventional Footwear on Health and Wellness

2. The Significance of Proper Toe Spacing

3. Considerations When Choosing Minimalist, Barefoot, or Toe Shoes

4. Why Peluva Shoes Have Become My Daily Go-To for All Activities

5. What Sets Peluva Apart from Other Minimalist and Barefoot Shoe Brands

Peluva's outer sole is carefully designed to provide exceptional traction, making it an ideal choice for various activities like running and hiking. I've personally put my Peluvas to the test during CrossFit workouts that involve running, sprinting, lifting, and jumping. Their performance has been commendable. However, I advise against wearing socks during workouts with lateral movements, as they may cause your feet to slide within the shoe.

During a workout involving a rowing ergometer, I discovered a minor concern regarding the strap placement that secures your feet. Given the flexibility of Peluvas, especially around the toe pockets, I felt less secure than I would with conventional training shoes. As a result, I might stick to regular wide box shoes for rowing workouts or adjust the strap position.

Durability is one of Peluva's strong suits. My first pair still looks fantastic after over five months of daily wear, and my dedicated workout Peluvas have held up well despite rope climbing, chalk, dirt, and mud.

While Peluvas aren't water-resistant, most models can handle damp conditions without suffering damage. If you have leather Peluvas, exercise caution around water and ensure they dry properly if they do get wet.

Cleaning Peluva shoes is a breeze. A damp cloth or a rinse with warm water typically does the trick. For stubborn stains or odors, soaking them in warm water with a gentle detergent or baking soda before drying in the sun works wonders.

Perhaps what sets Peluva apart the most is its style. Arguably the best-looking toe shoes on the market, they can be worn for nearly any occasion. While they might not have made the cut for my wedding, I find them suitable for almost everything else.

Peluva offers a range of styles and materials for both men and women:

  • 1. The Strand: A lightweight trainer perfect for running, lifting, high-intensity interval training, and leisurely strolls.
  • 2. Miami: A sporty and comfortable loafer for running errands, casual walks, or days when laces feel like too much.
  • 3. Napa: A full-grain leather sneaker, ideal for date nights and similar occasions (currently available for men only).
  • 4. Desert Boot: A classic desert boot redesigned for a luxurious barefoot experience, suitable for urban exploration and travel.

Except for the Desert Boot, all styles come in various colors. The Strand and Desert Boot feature a thinner sole (9mm), while the Miami and Napa boast a 12mm sole, ensuring maximum comfort during extended wear. I've even worn the Strand at conferences where I had to be on my feet all day, and they delivered on comfort without a hitch.
